Held the last weekend in April, Merlefest is an annual music festival that began in 1988. It draws HUGE crowds of bluegrass, folk, and Americana music lovers. Concert goers can enjoy the blends of old-time music with contemporary sounds and explore the festival grounds over the 4 day event. Artists usually join together in on-stage jam sessions and impromptu performances leading to some unusual combinations of performers. It’s always a fantastic time. Typically, crowd numbers exceed 79,000. Travel to Merlefest from our Banner Elk cabins is an easy drive to Wilkesboro that take you conveniently through Boone, or you can take the Blue Ridge Parkway to Hwy 421 in Deep Gap.
