There is a visitor center that has exhibits, book sales, and trails that lead up to the peak of Waterrock. This location is also a place unlike any other to watch the sunrise and sunset over the mountains beyond and see the light dance throughout the valleys below.
Another attraction that you can visit while you stay in your cabins near the Blue Ridge Parkway is the Folk Art Center. This building showcases countless items of local art from the Appalachian Mountains and hosts a number of educational events throughout the year. In addition to viewing the art, there are also demonstrations where you can participate and learn how to make many of the local crafts. A bookstore is also part of the center and it sells many books on the region and souvenirs for you to remember your trip to the Blue Ridge Parkway for years to come.
